Henderson Academy
A team of 20 student volunteers from Adams High School drove down to Detroit’s Henderson Academy where we delivered 115 St. Patrick's Day themed care packages. This was one of my favorite events we’ve done because the whole day was filled with so many smiles, engaging activities, and we were really able to elevate how thoughtful and tailored these care packages were. We visited all of the pre-school and kindergarten students, and the two grades received different curated gifts based on what the school’s faculty told us they needed.
For the pre-schoolers, their care package consisted of items like green bracelets / necklaces / and lucky coins, hats and gloves (Michigan winters last long!), toys, play dough, and pre-school level reading materials. For the kindergarteners, they also received St. Patrick’s Day goodies, hats and gloves, coloring and writing supplies, white boards, and grade level books.
For our art activity, the kindergarteners made lucky clover friends out of construction paper, and the preschoolers finger painted four leaf clovers on canvases.
We left Henderson Academy that day with our hearts full and hands green.
